They opened in 1979, originally called The Great Australian Design Company. The first store is in auburn, new south wales, followed by stores in St Leonard’s and ACT Fishwick, new south wales. Warwick Shedder, owner of St Leonard’s, eventually bought the small store network with his brother Neil Hiddenite Warwick brothers and Neil brothers had seen the potential in the furniture industry and developed the business together before Warwick's premature death in 2001.Neil serves as managing director and continues to operate and grow the business with OZ's management team and store staff. Today, the OZ Design Furniture company, led by longtime managing director Michael Peracetic, operates 34 stores on Australia's east coast and has a fast-growing online store.
