Cosmo Guitars is a small company founded by Tom Hebert and began importing guitars from Italy and Japan in 1966. Tom has just retired from the Air Force and is looking forward to finding business opportunities in his field of interest. Although the import of guitars was promising, Tom realized the potential of his Sheppard Ave store in Downsview in 1968 and opened the first Cosmo Music. The store sells guitars and accessories that it imports, and business is getting better and better. In 1970, he stopped importing guitars and continued to run a small music school, expanding the range of instruments sold in the Downsview store. In 1971, Cosmo Music moved to Richmond Hill and took over the local Mundinger Music store. The new store already has a large classroom and there is still plenty of room for development.
